The Weights & Measures Bureau seeks to fill the position of Weights & Measures Inspector. Work will be performed throughout eastern Iowa. The official domicile will be determined at the time of hire but will be expected to live in eastern Iowa.
The Weights & Measures Inspector is charged with the enforcement of Iowa Code chapters 212, 214 and 215, and Iowa Administrative Rules chapter 85, pertaining to commercial weighing and measuring devices. IAC chapter 85 also adopts the National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST), as adopted by the National Conference on Weights and Measures, Handbooks 44 and 130. Evaluating Information to Determine Compliance with Standards - Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
