Secretary Naig, Iowa State University Grain Quality Expert Discuss How Drought, Derecho May Affect Grain Quality, Storage

DES MOINES, Iowa (Aug. 28, 2020) – This morning, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach grain quality expert Charles Hurburgh provided an update on crop conditions around the state. Secretary Naig provided a damage update and reminded producers to start evaluating their fall propane needs. Hurburgh, professor of agricultural and biosystems engineering and professor in charge the Iowa Grain Quality Initiative, gave an overview of how the crop damage caused by the drought and derecho may affect grain quality and storage this fall.
